Betty’s Bohemian Cafe – Port Douglas gluten free

Port Douglas gluten free

This boho cafe at the beach end of the Port Douglas shops has an all day healthy brunch menu, with a good selection of gluten free options.

When I noticed that one of my all-time-favourite foods –pancakes – were on the menu marked as gluten free, we were there for brunch the next day!  The staff were very helpful with checking that the ice-cream was gluten free and brought out the container for me to double check.  As they were chocolate pancakes with extra chocolate sauce, it was very rich but delicious.  The pancake recipe changes with the season – the flavour when I last checked the menu was cacao, vanilla and buckwheat pancakes with mixed berries.

It was washed down with the fresh juice of the day, a refreshing mix of apple, pineapple, rockmelon and passionfruit.

My partner had scrambled eggs on toast (not GF pictured here), but gluten free bread is available. I didn’t ask about separate toasters, but I’m sure they would be happy to cook it safely.

The menu changes seasonally (see the link from their Facebook page below).  One of many Port Douglas gluten free options, Betty’s Bohemian cafe has a lovely atmosphere and is great place to have breakfast/brunch.
