Brasserie Blanc gluten free
Brasserie Blanc is a French inspired group of restaurants, co-founded by celebrity chef Raymond Blanc. I have enjoyed many meals from their gluten free menu, mainly at the London Covent Garden restaurant (this location has now closed), but also in Farnham in Hampshire.
They have a large a la carte menu (refreshed quarterly) and also a great value set menu (refreshed monthly). A separate gluten free menu is available, which also lists the dairy free options. You can see the current menu on the website under ‘allergy menu’. There are many options available for every course and you will have trouble making a decision when you are used to very few gluten free choices.
My first meal at Brasserie Blanc started with the melted cheese pot with gluten free bread, which was a bit like your own personal fondue pot and I love a good fondue. My main meal was a perfectly cooked steak with peppercorn sauce (my favourite) and new potatoes. A simple meal, but it hit all the right spots. I repeated this exact meal at my next visit!
The following dishes were from the summer 2014 set menu – a chickpea salad and vegetable risotto. A very enjoyable lunch meal at a good price.
My last visit was earlier this year, so a more hearty meal is nice to warm up on a cold day. I started with celery soup (much nicer than it sounds!) and had a chicken main, both from the set menu.
My friend had the pork belly, which was also gluten free and to be honest, I was a little jealous as it looked so good!
The Brasserie Blanc restaurants I have been to have all been in interesting buildings that create a nice environment for your meal.
There are several locations around London and around the UK (eg Winchester, Bath, Leeds, Oxford). See the website for further details.brasserieblanc.com/
