Eat Cannoli – gluten free cannoli in Preston
I first became aware of Eat Cannoli at a Melbourne Gluten Free Expo, where much excitement was circulating about the gluten free cannoli available.
Melbourne coeliacs are now lucky to be able to have cannoli six days a week (Tuesday to Sunday) at their store in Preston, which is 9km north of the city centre. The cafe is in a unassuming little strip of shops just around the corner from Northland shopping centre.
It is both 100% gluten free and Coeliac Australia accredited.
At the counter you can see examples of the flavours available for that day, as well as other sweet treats, such as Tiramisu. The friendly staff will explain the options for you and your cannoli are made fresh to order.
The menu on the wall outlines what else is available and the prices, with cannoli being $4.50 each and the savoury piadinas (flat toasties) being $9.50 each.
I think the piadinas are a fabulous idea as it makes Eat Cannoli a lunch destination as well as a dessert or coffee & cake destination. I would return just for lunch and I really enjoyed my roast vegetable piadina.
Of course, you can’t leave without something sweet, so I opted for the chocolate cannoli and the rich, smooth filling was a lovey contrast with the crunchy cannoli.
Hot cinnamon sugar vegan fritoli (Italian donuts) also appear on the menu regularly, which look delicious!

Eat Cannoli is eat in (inside and outside at the large table on the footpath) or takeaway and they also do catering if you have an event coming up. Sometimes they open at night, such as Friday night arancini and prosecco, including hot cinnamon sugar fritoli.
Keep watch on their Facebook and Instagram pages for various events and markets they are attending – they have a lovely retro van named Ivana that they take to these events.

Eat Cannoli is featured on the Melbourne 100% gluten free listing as well as the Coeliac Australia accredited venues page.
