Gluten free at Eumundi Markets – Queensland

Eumundi Market gluten free

Eumundi markets are an institution in the local area and are a ‘must do’ for visitors to Noosa or day trippers from Brisbane. Coeliacs do not have to feel taunted by all the lovely food smells, as there are three 100% gluten free stalls at the market!

You can easily spend a couple of hours browsing the stall which sell everything from clothes, handbags and jewellery to handmade cards. There are also ‘treatment’ stalls (eg reflexology, massage etc) and a large number of food stalls.  The food stalls are spread out across the market, so keep an eye out for gluten free options.

The 100% gluten free stalls are highlighted here from my visit in May 2018, but there were also other options such as roasted peanuts, sweets and smoothies etc.  I did see a a cupcake stall that had gluten free and vegan options, but it was not totally gluten free.

OMG Donuts

OMG Donuts are gluten free and vegan with a large variety of sugar toppings.  These donuts are fried and are light and fluffy like a traditional donut, so unbelievably delicious!!  You will also find them at markets around Brisbane,

Brazilian Tapioca

I had heard about this stall and was pleased to see the 100% gluten free signage.

Tapioca is naturally gluten free and makes an interesting crepe base.  Crepes are my favourite food, so resistance was futile! They have savoury and sweet options but I can never resist the banana and nutella combination.

gluten free crepe Eumundi

I really liked it – the texture is different to a crepe as it is firmer with a little bit of crispiness but I found it made it really easy to eat as you can pick it up like a quesadilla. There is not much flavour from the crepe itself, so the fillings do all the talking.

Topliss Tarts gluten free cafe

In a permanent building, Topliss Tarts has an entirely gluten free kitchen.  There are cakes and slices available as well as savoury items.

There are plenty of tables and chairs around if you want to eat at the market. We bought some quiche slices ($8 each) and a salad to take back to our apartment for lunch. The quiche base was made of rice and the fillings were tasty (we had the salmon and the mediterranean). The salad was also rice based, with a nice mix of pumpkin, chickpeas cashews, celery and herbs.  A filling and healthy meal which went a way to offsetting the other treats from the market!

Eumundi is around a 15 minute drive from Noosa Heads and is a great place to have a potter about while on holiday and have some lovely gluten free treats.
