Old Time Bakery gluten free Lebanese bread

Old Time Bakery is one of the early providers of gluten free wraps in Australia and their range now also includes Lebanese bread, pizza bases and breadcrumbs.

During lockdown in Melbourne I have enjoyed trying the Lebanese bread and found they make a great souvlaki! I’ve seen comments on social media that they also make a good pizza base.

The wholemeal version is gluten free, wheat free & lactose free and the white version is gluten free, wheat free & yeast free. I prefer the taste of the white one that is pictured below.  There are four in a packet and the price is around $6.90.

The guide on the pack says to air the wraps for a few minutes and to optionally warm on a hotplate for a few seconds. I warm mine in a saucepan and melt butter onto it as it puffs up. I think that the warming makes the bread softer and more flexible –  and it doesn’t break when wrapped!

Then fill as you please – I like making a lamb souvlaki (pictured with the wholemeal wrap) or using Coles ‘I’m free from chicken tenders’ with some coleslaw.

The Lebanese bread provides a substantial wrap that will hold your fillings – give them a go if you haven’t tried them yet!

You can find a selection of Old Time Bakery products in Woolworths, IGA, Foodworks and specialist gluten free stores like Sunnybrook in Ormond, Melbourne. You can also order combination wrap packs directly with Old Time Bakery. For stockists in your state, visit the stockists section of their website for more detail.
