They are close to the Mornington Racecourse, which is just a five minute drive from the main shopping strip of Mornington – look out for the United service station which is next door.

Being a bakery, you will find a huge array of baked products. On the savoury front, you will find pies, pasties, sausage rolls (including a vegan option), quiche (individual and family size) and more – some of which are heated and ready to eat. A recent addition has been a vegan sausage roll. Most of these are made on site, but they also stock some of Jo Jo’s gluten free pies. There is more detail on the savoury options below.

There is a good selection of gluten free breads from gluten free brands such as GF Precinct, Gluten Free 4U, Well & Good and Ardor Gluten Free. The cakes are largely made on site, but there is a vegan selection from another local supplier, Conscious Cravings.

Scrolls are one thing that I really miss and I really enjoyed the cinnamon scroll warmed through in the microwave – sweet and sticky just as I like it!  The French Vanilla Slice was delicious with flaky pastry and the right level of sweetness. I shared this with my husband who wouldn’t have known it was gluten free, so I think that is a very good endorsement. The jam tart was also eagerly devoured!

I have tried both the cinnamon and jam donuts warmed the in the microwave and both have a really good texture with the right amount of sugar.

There is a selection of pre-prepared wraps and rolls which you can eat in or take away (fresh or toasted).  I enjoyed a chicken schnitzel roll – how rare it is to have something like that?!  There is also a single serve pizza ready to take away.

As mentioned earlier, there are many savoury options to take away hot or to take home and warm through. My husband and I have really enjoyed the pies, pastie, sausage rolls and quiches.

The quiches are very tasty and come in a number of flavours. The pastie was excellent with lots of meat and veg.

There is a freezer with a selection of meats from 100% gluten free butcher, Brian’s Gourmet Meats, ice creams and more.

If you want to have a coffee and cake or a warmed savoury pastry straight away, there are some tables and bar style seating in the bakery.  The pictures above with salad were taken at home but you can get salad at the bakery.

The Good Food Bakery is a fantastic addition to the Mornington Peninsula and also features on the 100% gluten free Mornington Peninsula post. Make sure you pop in next time you are in the area!
