The criteria I used for inclusion, was that the business has to be:
- 100% gluten free (ie no cross contamination risk), and
- have its own outlet that you can visit, such as a shop, café or a stall at a market.

Let them Eat understands what it is like to have dietary issues and their founder, Lisa Hackett, is personally committed to their promise that the products are completely safe for wheat, gluten and dairy allergies.
You will find a variety of cakes as well as 100% allergy free Cornish pasties (Traditional/Cheese & Onion/Vegetable), Scotch eggs and Falafel eggs.
All products are made of 100% natural and local ingredients, so are full of goodness and baked with natural alternatives like honey and fresh vegetables to make them extra moist, light and delicious (they even count as one of your five a day!). A lot of time is spent perfecting products so that they taste at least as good, and better, than mainstream products.

The only totally gluten free bakery and cafe in Plymouth selling pies, pastries, quiche, cakes, cupcakes and birthday cakes too. Owner is gluten intolerant.
This bakery started in Plymouth Market, but outgrew it and now has a shop in the town. For more information and photos, see this article. The shop can also be made available for evening meetings at a reasonable cost.
Mon-Sat 9.30am-4pm (Tues 2.30pm). Closed Sunday.
The business was started when a family member was diagnosed as gluten and lactose intolerant.
Good quality bread, pies, sausage rolls, cakes and pastries. Many products are also dairy free. Although a production unit rather than a shop, you can often take away frozen items. Pre-order if you want something in particular, and local deliveries are available.

The Instow Kitchen, Bideford (North Devon)
Run by a coeliac in a dedicated gluten free kitchen, The Instow Kitchen makes a range of cakes – cupcakes, sponge cakes, celebration cakes and fruit cakes. Their philosophy is to deliver delicious flavour, beautifully moist texture and a great design.

The Little Gluten Free Pasty Pie, Wadebridge
A dedicated gluten free kitchen making a twist on the Cornish pasty – the pasty pie! This was born out of the the problems of crimping gluten free pastry and it has become a hit with the gluten free community and was shortlisted in the 2016 Free From Awards.
Using only the finest local ingredients, you will find a variety of flavours such as:
- beef, onion & potato
- cheese, onion & potato
- vegetable & cheese (made with seasonal vegetables)
- steak & Cornish blue
The pasty pie is great for packed lunches, picnics or a quick supper to eat with salad or vegetables. You can also buy sausage rolls, scones and sponges.
This is largely an online business, but you can pick up orders from the premises and it is possible to ring and see if there is stock available and arrange collection. You will also find The Little Gluten Free Pasty Pie at some food shows such as the Royal Cornwall Show (follow on Facebook for latest information).
The pies are made fresh to order and freeze for at least three months. They can be microwaved or heated again in a conventional oven.
The website has a listing of local cafes that stock their items for lunch and cream teas and the pies are also available at Cornwall Food & Drink store in Truro.

Tasty Pasty Gluten Free, Cornwall & Devon
A small specialist bakery, producing hand-made pasties free of wheat, gluten and dairy products. They were the first gluten free business to achieve formal PGI accreditation for their pasties.
Pam Withe started making wheat gluten and dairy free products for family and friends about 5 years ago. She already had a commercial kitchen at home set up for making celebration cakes, which has now been converted to be 100% gluten free.
All of the recipes / products are of her own invention and use only fresh local ingredients. She has spent the last several years perfecting a gluten free pastry that can be rolled to make Cornish pasties. Also producing a variety of pies such as chicken and mushroom, chicken and leek pies, Alpaca pies, Moroccan spice lamb pies.
As well as savoury products Pam also makes cakes (including lemon drizzle, chocolate mud, carrot cakes) and Christmas products such as iced cakes, mince pies and Christmas puddings – all gluten free.
Place orders directly for collection at her Bodmin bakery (discuss times at time of order).

Liberty Loves, Bridport/Wimborne
Bringing joy to people living without Dairy, Eggs, Soya and Gluten by producing a selection of hand made raw tarts, raw nut butters and delicious chocolate brownies. Many items are vegan. Shortlisted in the Free From Food Awards 2017.

Run by Mandy Evans, a coeliac herself who is also very sensitive to wheat, all food is gluten free and cooked in a gluten free kitchen. She only uses the best ingredients and thinks of her stall as her own little gluten free bakery.
There are at least 12 different types of cakes, and all pastry is home made. All cakes and pastries are individually wrapped to reduce any risk of cross contamination. Pop into the cafe for Specials of the Day such as Lasagne, Chilli, Curry and Quiche, but also available are Toasted Sandwiches, Jacket Potatoes, Omelettes, Tarts, Pies and Pasties to eat in or take away. You can also have a delicious smoothie or shake.
Specialising in pastry products (pies, quiche, tarts, pasties), many customers say it is the best pastry they have tasted! The pastry has been lab tested for gluten free at <5ppm.

A recycled and upcycled local business with a café attached that is fairtrade and 100% gluten free.
