Duke of Pakington – Geelong

Gluten free fish and chips Geelong

NOVEMBER 2018 ANNOUNCEMENT – THE DUKE OF PAKINGTON NO LONGER EXISTS.  This location is now Parma Bar and apparently still has gluten free options.  Also see the Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula 100% gluten free listing for other options.

Being a seaside town, Geelong is just the place you would expect some nice fish and chip shops.  Duke of Pakington is in Geelong West, which is less than a 10 minute drive from the seafront.

The previous owners (when it was called Duke of the Sea) has Coeliac Disease so they set up the dedicated gluten free cooking space, grill, fryer and utensils and the staff are all trained in cross contamination.  Ask for the ORANGE gluten free menu.

You can eat in (both inside and outside) or takeaway.  We decided to takeaway and go and sit by the Geelong waterfront, just a short drive away.

Duke of the Sea Geelong

When it was Duke of the Sea, I chose the ‘DFC’ burger which was southern fried chicken with slaw and chilli aioli.  It was deliciously messy to eat and I loved the hint of chilli. I love sweet potato and couldn’t resist a sweet potato cake.  I shouldn’t have ordered chips as well as I was too full to eat many, but it is good to know for next time we can share chips.

As the rebranded Duke of Pakington, I couldn’t resist a souvlaki and sweet potato chips.  Delicious and the wrap was very soft.

I would definitely eat here again if in Geelong and it is also a good stopover point if travelling from Melbourne to the Great Ocean Road.  Uber Eats is also available.

And if gluten free fish and chips isn’t enough, Gluten Free 4 U bakery is a neighbour, so you can stock up on your bread and cakes as well!
