Glucoboost gluten free jelly beans
It is quite surprising that some jelly beans contain wheat thickeners but the Glucoboost range is entirely gluten free! This is particularly important for those with both coeliac disease and type 1 diabetes, but also great for coeliacs just wanting a treat or sugar boost.
They also look very pretty served in a bowl!
Glucoboost gluten free jelly beans are a large size and firm on the outside and a bit chewy on the inside – just as they should be! Coming in nine tasty flavours, there is a good variety. For the 150g pack you are able to get just aniseed or raspberry flavour. The other flavours are vanilla, blueberry, orange, blackcurrant, strawberry, apricot and apple.
They come in three different pack sizes (90g, 150g, 500g) and are available at chemists around Australia (check the website for stockists near you). The cute tin pictured below was a promotional item but you may still find them in some pharmacies.
Nova Pharmaceuticals manufacture Glucoboost jelly beans, which are 30% glucose syrup. A serving size (25g – about 5 jelly beans) is 375kJ. For the diabetics, this provides 24.2g of carbohydrate, 17.5g of which is sugars.
Note that these jelly beans contain milk and soy products.
Since I was sent Glucoboost jelly beans to try, I have kept noticing them in chemists – you will usually find them on the counter near the registers.
