Gluten free Saucery in Malvern

100% gluten free healthy food in Malvern or home delivery

Saucery is a relatively new kid on the block and is described as healthy fast food. Everything is gluten free, dairy free and sugar free, using high welfare meat and many ingredients are organic. Vegan options also available.

They have snap frozen meals as well as freshly cooked meals (eg burgers, pad thai) at their Malvern shop, which is takeaway only.  There are also healthy donuts for a sweet treat available in the front cabinet.

The menu is on the wall, outlining the options for both frozen meals and freshly cooked takeaway.

If you have allergies, the online ordering and frozen meal packaging states ‘made in a facility that also handles shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, egg and soy’.

Freshly cooked meals

There is a great choice of freshly cooked meals and I have tried a burger and the chicken pad Thai and both were fantastic.

The chips are oven baked and no vegetable oil is used. These meals are takeaway only but there is a small table out the front if you do want to sit down to eat.

The beef burger was $20 and the sweet potato chips were $4. The chicken pad Thai with konjac noodles was $20 (extra $2 for rice noodles).

If you live locally, you can get fresh food delivered by Uber Eats or Menulog.

Frozen meals

There is a good range of choice for the frozen meals, with 11 options, with four of these being vegetarian. You can order the main without a side (and add your own at home), or include a side of rice or cauliflower rice. Soup is also available.

The packaging shows the carb and sugar count as well as the calories.  If you are keto or paleo, having cauliflower rice instead of basmati rice can lower your carbs. (For the green curry the carb count goes from 11.8% to 3.3%.)

All the meals I have tried have been delicious and I would buy again.  Above is the beef stroganoff (with my pasta) and the butter chicken (with a microwave rice). Below is the green chicken curry cauliflower rice.

A guide to pricing is:

  • chicken green curry – sauce only $20; with basmati rice is $14.50 (costs slightly more  for cauliflower rice)
  • beef strogonoff, sauce only $19; with basmati rice is $14 (costs slightly more  for cauliflower rice)
  • chickpea green curry – sauce only $15; with basmati rice is $12.50 (costs slightly more  for cauliflower rice)

There is a good choice of almond meal based donuts (baked not fried) in the store cabinet or you can order them online in a box of 6 or 12.

I haven’t tried them all yet, so another post will go up on these soon. Pictured is the choc banana which was very tasty. The donuts are made from organic ingredients and are gluten, sugar and dairy free.
